mineral

Each of these small paintings are small documentations of a time and a place through rocks. Mineral life is different everywhere we go.

As with my ongoing botanical series and practice, each of these are little engagements with stone in my territory, as well as the territories I am visitor to. I want to visit deeply. Each of these paintings are little engagements, an appreciation, a mapping of time a geophysical location, a relationship with place and time. My experience and practice as a person-part of the land shows me deep(er) time, meaning, and meaninglessness.

Each painting is on Midori cotton watercolour paper with ochre paint (ochre collected at Granddaddy’s Brook and made by Caitlin ffrench), Stoneground paint, and paint I made with dye plants and minerals from my home territory in Katalisk.
